So I get a fairly constant stream of people who send me messages about situations where they have sent Bitcoin to a BCH address and don't know what to do. Fortunately, recovery in this situation is straight forward and can be done directly with your hardware wallet.

Bitcoin Made DIFFICULT for Canadians

I've been telling people to buy bitcoin for the last 3 years (of course I never bought any myself). Thought today could be the day.
Went to coinbase.com which is where most others go to or so I heard. Verified my email, phone, credit card, photo ID. Bought $150 of BTC. Now, not a clue where my actual bitcoin wallet address is. If I click on "receive", I get a QR code but it says that's unique to coinbase.
Anyways, digging further resulted in realizing that coinbase can't withdraw money to Canadian banks.
Easy method of buying / selling bitcoin died right there.
I then heard CoinSquare is best for Canadians. But then heard the withdraw and other fees are ridiculous. (not to mention the bad site design and confusing navigation etc)
I ran into ntrust.com which says they have no fees at all. How is that possible? Anyone have experience with those guys or is it a fake bitcoin site out to just scam you?
Ran into QuadrigaCX but heard all you get there is QuadrigaCX Bucks and not bitcoin or CAD. Bit confused on that front.
I ran into a couple bitcoin ATMs here in Victoria. Lowest buying fee is 8% (seems high) and again, not sure where to send the bitcoin I buy from there.
Does anyone have a good guide on how exactly a newbie in Canada can sign up for a bitcoin wallet, get their bitcoin wallet address and start buying / selling bitcoin? I'm at a loss here. (maybe literally, since I have no idea how to withdraw the $150 from coinbase)
Thanks!

Cryptopay the sleeping giant

xeroerror (25) in buy • 44 seconds ago I have personally encountered and tried many places to buy cryptocurruncy but failed to do so without getting caught or scammed by fake and dishonest websites and applications. Most of the time being a victim of hidden fees or unnecessary high prices. Cryptopay.me changed my thought about cryptocurruncy. Some of you might never heard about this company but the services and the features and simpleness of their system is eye catching to grasp any crypto enthusiast if they ever tried cryptopay service. Unlike other services you can easily get verified and apply for cryptopay debit card and use your curruncy or hold it in special Fiat wallets.Charges are fair and negligible if you know how to react the price changes of bitcoins or any other major curruncy.
Do what's the catch? Cryptopay is an online Bitcoin wallet which offers a tremendous functions than main stream wallets . Here is some of the thing that you can do using cryptopay website.
Just sign up and get you Bitcoin wallet address and apply for debit ot prepaid card. This card you can use just like any other plastic card and is accepted just like any other ATM card .
Get 25 discount on your preferred prepaid card f you register through this link http://cryptopay.me/join/31ab986f
If you are worried of market fluctuation just use the flex services to convert bitcoins or any other Alto coins to Fiat and protect your funds .You can purchase or can be stored as Usd ,Gbp ,Euro. At the time of writing cryptopay has more than 87000 users and is growing.
Money Transfer
Unlike other you can easily transfer you money borderless to any where in the world. The great thing about money transfer is I have personally tested and it is awesome to see all the details with real-time transfer to other account within few seconds.
B2B Solutions
Crypto pay also offer business to business solution and if you are a business owner and interested in crypto currency you might be hard any other cheap solution which is simple and more robust than existing b2b platforms.
Cryptopay token.
Though you might have missed the ico you can still have the chance to buy it when it hits major exchanges or buy it directly on hitbtc or idex as low as five cents.Time is really running out if you are still waiting as this could be a Huge sleeping giant .So what is the big deal about Cpay token?Because it gives you revenues where ever you hold it and you can earn it in ethereum.Just hold in your ethereum wallet and every month you will get the revenue based on the amount of coin in you wallet. Awesome :)..

Receive addresses on ledger

An exchange asked me to give them an address that I will only be using for receiving my bitcoin withdrawal address.
If I go to the ledger bitcoin app and get a bitcoin wallet address from the receive tab is that it?
Will my bitcoin always be safely landing to my ledger?
I ask this as everytime the receive address changes. Thanks.

[uncensored-r/CryptoCurrency] How to buy Bounty0x (BNTY)!

The following post by frankuboi is being replicated because some comments within the post(but not the post itself) have been openly removed.
The original post can be found(in censored form) at this link:
np.reddit.com/ CryptoCurrency/comments/7me5k4
The original post's content was as follows:
Right now, the only exchange which lists Bounty0x (BNTY) is KuCoin. I found it a little bit confusing to get BNTY myself, so thought I'd write a little tutorial for those who are looking at getting some themselves. To get BNTY coins, you will need to create an account with KuCoin and have an account with Coinbase (or already hold some Bitcoin).
Step 1: Buy Bitcoin
If you already own Bitcoin you can jump straight to step 2, otherwise, read on. The only way to buy BNTY is with Bitcoin so if you don't already own some Bitcoin you will need to buy some at Coinbase. Once you've bought your Bitcoin you will need to transfer it to KuCoin.
Step 2: Sign up to KuCoin
You can sign up by at https://www.kucoin.com/ (or if you want to be nice, you can use my referral link: https://www.kucoin.com/#/?r=1db3N). Once you've signed up, you'll receive an email with a verification link. Once you've verified your email you will then need to set up 2-factor authentication.
Step 3: Set up 2-factor authentication with Google Authenticator
KuCoin requires you to set up 2-factor authentication before they will let you deposit money onto the exchange. This is to ensure your security to protect against hackers trying to access your account. To do this you will need to download the Google Authenticator app on your phone.
Once you've downloaded the app you just need to open it and scan the barcode you were given by KuCoin. The app will have given you a six-digit code which you just need to enter into KuCoin. Once you've done this, you're almost ready to get your BNTY!
Step 4: Transfer your Bitcoin from Coinbase to KuCoin
To transfer your Bitcoin from one exchange to the other, you just need to get your Bitcoin wallet address from KuCoin. To find this, click on the dollar sign button ($) found in the top right corner of the KuCoin page. Scroll to find Bitcoin (it should be second from the top) and to the very right you will see "Deposit" or "Withdraw". Click on "Deposit" and you will be taken to a new page with your Bitcoin wallet address. Copy this address.
You will now need to go back to Coinbase and click on the "Accounts" tab at the top of the page. Click on "Send" in your Bitcoin Wallet and you will be prompted to enter an address that you wish to send your Bitcoin to. Paste the address that we copied earlier from KuCoin and then hit send.
Step 5: Exchange your Bitcoin for BNTY
This is the final step! On KuCoin, click on the "Markets" tab at the top of the page. You will be taken to a page with a list of trading pairs. Scroll until you find the BNTY/BTC pairing and click on the green "Buy" button. You'll have to use the Google Authenticator app again one last time to confirm the transaction, but then you will be done. You BNTY will be in your account!
Step 6: To the moon?
Watch as the price of BNTY soars to the moon!
If you want to be nice and help me out, use my referral link or code when signing up to KuCoin. It will cost you nothing and will give me a small bonus for referring you to sign up!

Bitcoin Adoption: You + One Small Step

Hello! A little ramble from me: Overall, we see that awareness and adoption are the top two factors for growth, for any technology, trend, or tactic. If you want to encourage any idea, product, or service, then every person needs to spread the idea to two other people, who can then spread the idea to two other people, and so forth. Yet, there are two kinds of people to spread awareness to: Consumers/Hodlers AND Businesses/Entrepreneurs. As I see it, there are two basic tactics to encourage awareness and adoption for Bitcoin growth, which are to: 1a) Help anyone-everyone (consumers & businesses) get a Bitcoin wallet address, which is as simple as a hotwallet download, such as JAXX, Electrum, or GreenAddress. 1b) Simply help them know the private keys are critical. 1c) Send them 100,000 Satoshi's [which is 1 mBTC, or 0.001 BTC]. 2) Encourage just one business to start accepting Bitcoin. It can be any business, but they simply need to a) accept Bitcoin AND b) advertise that fact anywhere, such as: their storefront, social media, press release, etc. I know it is a lot to ask, and it is a lot of work, but we need to each call our inner "Johnny Appleseed" of crypto and we need to do more than just plant seeds -- We need to grow forests of Bitcoin trees in the minds of everyone, before they realize they are lost weeds in an old desert. Regardless, Bitcoin is going to the moon, but if we want to live on the moon, we need as many people to know about Bitcoin sooner than later. Otherwise, the new 1% will be early adopters and traditional bankers, while the world would benefit from a diverse range of Bitcoin hodlers (having at least 1 mBTC), before we cross that $25,000/BTC line.) Since this rocket ship is taking off at the same time the titanic is sinking, we can save more people now, while making the future an even more awesome place! With that being said, my ask for you is to 1) get five people in your life a BTC wallet, and 2) get just one business in your life to accept Bitcoin. These are the hardest of tasks, yet also the most significant. These goals are my focus, and I hope they will become your focus, too. Thanks for reading! Please upvote.

Electrum - Backup question + offline questions

Hey guys,
I am going to be creating an electrum wallet soon and i have 2 questions that i havent been able to find a solid answer to.
Since i am going to be using the wallet as a recieving wallet (for savings) and do not want to spend (actually want it to be harder for me to access), i am thinking of creating an electrum wallet in cold storage, however i am thinking about just creating the seed, then getting my bitcoin wallet address, and write that down along with the seed key, then shut it down and not even copy a wallet file/private key to thumb drive. Is this possible/advisable?
I guess the second question are, is booting a livecd on my regular computer (with other hard drives, lan port, wifi etc unplugged) alright? Most people are suggesting using a spare old laptop to dedicate to this, but i think my situation is a bit different.
Thanks
